Review process

How a CogniConnect Digital payroll compliance review moves from intake to findings workshop.

Designed for busy payroll calendars

A compliance review has to fit between pay runs, not interrupt them. This page explains the sequence we use for most full reviews; shorter checks compress the same stages.

1. Intake call

We confirm legal entities, payroll applications, approximate headcount, and the reason for the review (audit, acquisition, known incident, or routine assurance). You leave with a draft evidence list — not a software demo.

2. Access and sampling plan

Together we decide remote sessions versus on-site days, which pay cycles to sample, and how employee-identifying fields will be handled. Analytical extracts are preferred over screenshots whenever your application can produce them.

3. Application configuration pass

Reviewers examine how statutory rules, overtime, and allowances are encoded. Manual override logs and prior-period adjustment notes are part of this pass when available.

4. App analytics pass

Cohort sampling looks for calculation outliers: contribution bases, PCB patterns, overtime ratios, leavers’ final pay. Findings at this stage are provisional until traced.

5. Financial audit application pass

Selected payroll totals are traced into journals and financial audit applications so each material observation has a documentary path finance recognises.

6. Findings workshop and report

We walk through observations with your nominated leads, adjust wording where context was missing, and issue the final pack. Remediation ownership stays with your team unless you separately engage us for retesting.
